How to thrive over the holidays

The holidays have a reputation for being an “all or nothing” season.
Either you're in the studio consistently and not eating the sweets… or you’ve completely fallen off and will “start again in January.”

Here’s the truth: Moderation is EVERYTHING. It doesn't have to look perfect.

At our studio, we believe the holidays should be enjoyed and you can still feel strong, energized, and confident walking into the new year.

1. Ditch the “I’ll Start in January” Mindset

Six weeks of “off the rails” isn’t rest — it’s stress in disguise.

Movement during the holidays:

  • Keeps your energy up
  • Helps manage stress
  • Supports digestion and sleep
  • Makes it easier to enjoy food without guilt

You don’t need to go harder.
You just need to stay consistent enough.

2. Redefine What a “Good Workout” Is

Holiday schedules are chaotic. That doesn’t mean workouts don’t count.

A win might look like:

  • 45 minutes instead of 60
  • Lifting a little lighter
  • Showing up tired but moving anyway
  • Getting 2–3 workouts in instead of 5

Listen to your body. Any movement is better than no movement.

3. Eat the Food — Just Don’t Eat ALLLLL the Food.

Holiday food isn’t the enemy. The mindset around it usually is.

Instead of:

  • “I already blew it, might as well keep going”

Try:

  • Eat the foods you love in moderation
  • Slow down and enjoy them
  • Pair indulgent meals with protein and veggies when you can
  • Drink water (yes, even between cocktails)

Be aware of what you are eating and enjoy the holidays.

4. Use Workouts to Support Your Life, Not Control It

Your workouts don’t need to “earn” your food.

They’re there to:

  • Boost your mood
  • Reduce stress
  • Keep you feeling strong and capable
  • Give you a break from holiday chaos

Movement should make your life better — not add pressure.

5. Focus on Habits That Travel Well

The holidays are busy. Keep your non-negotiables simple:

  • Move your body 3x/week
  • Prioritize protein at most meals
  • Get outside when you can
  • Sleep whenever possible

Small habits done consistently beat grand plans that never happen.

6. Remember: Momentum Matters More Than Motivation

January feels easier when you don’t have to start from zero.

Staying connected to your routine now means:

  • Less soreness in January
  • More confidence
  • No “reset panic”
  • You walk into the new year already in motion

Final Thought

You don’t need to be perfect this holiday season.

You just need to:
✔ Move consistently
✔ Eat mindfully
✔ Enjoy the moments that matter

You’re allowed to celebrate AND take care of yourself.
