I’m out of town today visiting my grandbabies. I dropped one off at Pre-K, and the plan was to head straight to a big box gym since I’m five hours away from my favorite gym.
Honestly? I didn’t want to go.
Before I even left the Pre-K, my grandson had an accident. I didn’t have my earbuds. I forgot my water bottle. Things just weren’t going my way. And that’s when the mental games started.
“If the gym is packed, I’ll just come back later.”
“Maybe I shouldn’t go — my heel has been bothering me and I don’t want to make it worse.”
You know how it goes.
So of course I pull into the gym parking lot and it’s basically empty. No excuses left. I marched my happy ass right in.
Was it an amazing workout? Nope. Solid 5 out of 10. And that’s okay.
I got movement in. More importantly, I kept a promise to myself to show up. Every time you show up for yourself, you build confidence.
That 5 out of 10 workout made me feel better — mentally and physically. So today, I’m winning.
I hope you are too. 💛
